Marty Loken for info.
To register your small boat (free), send a description of your craft to Bob Miller.
Most Pocket Yacht Palooza boats are displayed on their trailers at the Northwest Maritime Center (NWMC), but some smaller boats can be shown on the adjoining saltwater beach. A small number choose to anchor out and a few find space at the offshore Maritime Center float--at the end of the pier extending out from the beach area.
The best all-tides launch ramp is at the Boat Haven Marina, approximately one mile southwest of the NWMC (close to the Safeway Gas Station). Some smaller boats can also be launched at the Salmon Club ramp next to the Maritime Center (gravel at lower tides, means that this is best for four-wheel-drive vehicles or hand-launchable boats).
Schedule and Activities
The Pocket Yacht Palooza celebrates interesting small-boat designs, whether propelled by oar, paddle, sail or motor, with some emphasis on camp- cruising watercraft. The show opens to the public at 10 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m., when participants adjourn for a potluck dinner along the edge of the beach. Then at 7 p.m., upstairs in one of the Northwest Maritime Center meeting rooms, we'll hear small-boat designer John Welsford of New Zealand talk about designing safety into smaller boats-- an important topic for all of us.
from the 2014 Pocket Yacht Palooza are posted here.
Potluck dinner starting Saturday at 5-5:30 p.m. at the Northwest Maritime Center.
Lunch on your own at one of the many Port Townsend restaurants.
Coffee during the day at the adjoining Velocity Espresso cafe in the NWMC.
Boaters wishing to secure overnight in-the-water moorage can make slip reservations at the adjoining Point Hudson Marina; see details in the Pocket Yacht Palooza section of the Pocket Yachter's website.
If you so choose, it is okay to sleep aboard your small boat while it's displayed on its trailer at the Northwest Maritime Center.
