TSCA Puget Sound Chapter Invites You to the

TSCA and Anacortes Community Maritime Center
Messabout and Summer Picnic

Date: Saturday, August 27, 2011
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Location: Bowman Bay, Fidalgo Island, Washington.

Contact: Lyndon Greene
    Email: anacomaritimectr@msn.com
    Phone: 360-299-9075

Type of launch facilities: The boat ramp is for small craft only -- up to 20 ft. It is important to watch the tides as the ramp is very short. It is also very easy to launch your canoe or kayak from the launch or beach. There is plenty of beach to launch a kayak. And, the parking lot is very near the beach. A larger boat can be launched at Washington Park in Anacortes.

Tides:
9:17 AM PDT -0.83 feet Low Tide
4:39 PM PDT 7.25 feet High Tide

Activities "Schedule" and Potluck Lunch: A potluck will be served from noon until about 3:00 p.m. ACMC will boil corn on site. We'll also have hot dogs for the kids and hungry sailors. Desert is watermellon. Participants are asked to provide their favorite pot luck dish, cookies, or chips

This potluck is the ACMC Summer Picnic. TSCA members are invited to join the group at Bowman Bay near the boat ramp. Last year some 13 boats were launched. Since lunch goes from 12 - 3, you should be able to get in a full day on the water and still have a hearty lunch.

Of Special Note: Bowman Bay is a wonderful site for a messabout. It is a part of Deception State Park; however, it is on Fidalgo Island just before you cross the Deception Pass bridge. The bay itself is really beautiful. The beach is shallow enough to allow for families to play on the beach or in the water. And, the water is warm this time of the year. There is a large ball field here, play ground, and of course, a boat ramp and nearby parking lot. Plenty of trails to hike, too.

Parking: Because this is a State Park, a $10 parking fee or $30 annual Discover Pass is required.

Accommodations: Camping available at Deception Pass State Park campground.
