Minutes of TSCA - Puget Sound Chapter Annual Meeting
Monday, June 14, 2010

The TSCA Puget Sound Chapter held it's annual meeting on Monday, June 14. The meeting was held in conjunction with the Anacortes Community Maritime Center (ACMC) general meeting at Emerald Marine Carpentry in Anacortes. Approximately fifteen TSCA members attended the meeting from Conway, WA., Friday Harbor, Seattle, and elsewhere. In addition, two new TSCA members attended as well as four ACMC members who recently joined TSCA.

John Weiss called the meeting to order at approximately 7:00 pm

Action Taken

The main purpose of the TSCA meeting was to elect new officers for the 2010-2011 period. TSCA officers present were John Weiss, Secretary, and Al Gunther, Treasurer. Gary Powell, President, and Kathy Liu, TSCA Webmaster, were not able to attend the meeting.

John accepted nominations from the floor for the office of President, Secretary, and Treasurer. After some discussion among members, Randy Jones volunteered to be President, Lyndon Greene volunteered to be Secretary, and Al Gunther volunteered to remain as TSCA Treasurer. John noted that Kathy Liu indicated earlier she would continue on as the Puget Sound Chapter Webmaster. Nominations were closed, motion was made to accept the nominations as read, seconded, and the new officers were elected.

Discussion

John Weiss updated everyone on the activities of the national organization.

President Randy Jones noted that no "messabout for boats" had been scheduled for the 2010 boating season. And, it was his hope a few rendezvous would be scheduled before the end of year. Possible sites mentioned for rendezvous were Tacoma, Port Townsend, and Bowman Bay. Randy said he would contact TSCA members in these areas to find out if they are interested in bringing TSCA members, guests, and their boats together for a messabout.

Other Items

Prior to the formal meeting, TSCA and ACMC members toured the Emerald Marine Carpentry facilities. EMC is a shop specializing in the building, restoration, and maintenance of wooden boats. Currently, they have several boats on site, including the building of the sister ship to the Evening Star. The Old Anacortes Rowing & Sailing Society has commissioned EMC to complete a replica of this historic rowing vessel. The ACMC is also working on a dory from the Wawona. The dory and other items from the Wawona are to be displayed at the Anacortes Maritime Museum.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm.
