The Puget Sound Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association was formed on July 26, 1997 in Bellingham, WA. Our 90+ active members currently range from Victoria, BC, to Lake Oswego, OR; and from the Olympic Peninsula to the San Juan Islands and the foothills of the Cascades. We have corresponding members from North Carolina and northern California, and a few somewhere out at sea. They represent aficionados of rowing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, and boat building & restoration.
Our intent is to bring together all interested people in Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia to join in area boating events and chapter-sponsored messabouts. We have no dues, but encourage our chapter members to spend a paltry $20 annually to join the national TSCA.
We are dedicated to
- rowing, sailing, paddling,
- building, restoring, fixing,
- learning, teaching, sharing,
- watching, viewing, showing,
- discussing, commiserating, critiquing,
- and just, plain, simply,
MESSING ABOUT IN BOATS!
Is wherry vs Nutshell a fair race? Does anyone care?!?`Is it so nice as all that?' asked the Mole shyly, though he was quite prepared to believe it as he leant back in his seat and surveyed the cushions, the oars, the rowlocks, and all the fascinating fittings, and felt the boat sway lightly under him.
`Nice? It's the only thing,' said the Water Rat solemnly, as he leant forward for his stroke. `Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing,' he went on dreamily: `messing -- about -- in -- boats; messing -- -- '
