John Gardner Small Craft Workshop
Mystic Seaport, Mystic Connecticut
June 5-6, 2004

Traditional small craft at the Mystic waterfront
On June 5-6, 2004, enthusiasts gathered at Mystic
Seaport for the 35th consecutive year to celebrate the joys
of small boats. The weekend provides a great opportunity to
view and test drive a variety of traditionally based small
craft. Dories, skiffs, kayaks, dinghies, wood and canvas canoes
are just a sampling of the watercraft in attendance. Many
of the boats are owner-built and the exchange of ideas between
participants is a highlight of the meeting.

During the weekend the Traditional Small Craft
Association holds their annual meeting. The Traditional
Small Craft Association, is a nonprofit, tax-exempt educational
organization which works to preserve and continue the living
traditions, skills, lore, and legends surrounding working
and pleasure watercraft whose origins predate the marine gasoline
engine. It encourages the design, construction, and use of
these boats, and it embraces contemporary variants and adaptations
of traditional designs.
