John Gardner Chapter: June 2010 Meeting Minutes

Minutes
Minutes from May 2, 2010 were approved as distributed.
Treasurer’s Report
Bill reports that we have 26 paid members as of this report.
Treasurer’s report was read by Bill Armitage and approved
by the membership.
Old Business
Work at MSYE:
The garage at Mystic Shipyard East still needs a little work.
George, Russell, and John Symons offered to continue with
the project
Fund Raising Activities:
The Craig’s List ad has netted a few donations for
the annual tag sale to be held this Saturday June 12. Russ
and Phil will pick up a JY-15 hull, and help move a Chaison
dory to the sale. Russ will place an ad in the local newspaper
and Andy strode will erect signs.
Color brochures have been printed for the McGregor canoe
which is being offered for sale at $4500.00
Community Outreach:
Manning the “TSCA” booth at the Mystic Seaport
“Wooden Boat show” was discussed. Volunteers were
added to roster. Questions on whether “Flat Hammock”
press would be sharing a booth and who is publishing the “Ash
Breeze” were discussed. Andy and John will talk to Chauncy
to clear up any questions.
Four students signed up for the boatbuilding project, unfortunately
only three can be accommodated. The project will begin July
6 from 9am to noon Monday through Friday and run through the
end of July. Bill is working up an order for plywood. The
students will have the option of purchasing their boats for
cost of materials, otherwise the club will retain ownership.
Sandy D’Esopo gave an update on the dust collector
project and will continue working on it.
New Business
Russ and Sean Bercaw are training in the Gig for the Blackburn
challenge to be held July 17, beginning at 7am in Gloucester,
MA.

Wooden boat show: June 25-27, - Mystic Seaport, Mystic, CT
