Treasurer’s Report

Treasurer Bill Armitage passed out a copy of the Treasure’s Report for the year ending 12/31/2011 and noted the following: Beginning balance at the start of 2011 was $2,417.15. The beginning balance at the start of 2012 is $3,757.15. Major sources of income are from member dues, the annual tag sale, and a deposit on the Rob Roy. Major expenses include food for the annual Pine Island cleanup, paint for the club dories, the signage for the “Uncle Flatty”, ceiling repair, and the new dust collecting system. Motion was made and passed to accept the Treasure's report as read.

Old Business

1. Number and types of projects in view of time spent and space used in Shop.

Discussion ensued regarding the number, types and the amount of time spent on member and club projects with respect to insuring that all members with projects can get in the shop in a reasonable time. Members suggested that perhaps a third boat could be brought in if the shop arrangement was changed. Bill Armitage noted that a previous vote established the present system of two projects (one member project and one club project) in the shop at a time, with a time limit of one year for member projects. Phil Behney asked if there was a motion to change or amend the present system. No motion was made. The present system stands.

Bill noted the present queue is as follows: Tom Jannke, Bill Armitage, Larry Magee, followed by Tim Weaver. Bill noted, assuming that his project was in the shop by June or July, he could be out by September. The next club project would be a maintenance project.

Boat projects presently in the shop are as follows: John Symons (Thompson Runabout). John noted that he estimates that he will be finished by March of this year. Sandy D'Esopo (Chaisson Dory). Sandy noted that he estimates to be finished around the first of June.

2. Dust Collection System

Sandy D'Esopo noted that the duct work for the system is in and that the placement of the unit has been determined.

3. Ceiling Repair

Members noted that the repair is almost completed. The Officers called for volunteers to finish the last few sections. George Spragg volunteered.

4. Bringing Food for the weekly Friday night meetings.

Rob Pittaway noted that someone should be responsible for bringing in food for the Friday night meetings to ensure that it was available for members who attended. Bill Armitage reminded the members that the club had voted to use some of the proceeds from the 2012 dues increase for food purchase. Phil Behney noted that there was also a soda fund that can be used for food and soda replacement. Phil Behney volunteered to bring the food to the Friday night meetings or coordinate with someone else if he couldn't attend. Bill noted that receipts should be brought to him (Bill) for reimbursement.

5. Sale of the Rob Roy

Bill Armitage noted that a deposit has been received for the Rob Roy.

New Business

1. Steam Box.

Sandy D'Esopo suggested that the club needs a steam box for projects and requested that the club buy materials to build one. Phil Behney asked the members if anyone had one that they could lend to the club. No members offered that they did. Discussion ensued as to the simplicity of making one. It was decided that there was enough scrap in the shop to build one without having to buy materials. Sandy D'Esopo offered to build one.

2. Permission to give information about the club to a New London Day reporter.

Russ Smith noted that he will be interviewed by a New London Day reporter in respect to the boat building class he is running for Ledyard Parks and Recreation at his home Russ asked the Officers if he could mention that a boat building class could be started with the JGTSCA. Motion was made and passed to permit Russell to mention that a boat building class may be offered by the JGTSCA.

Adjourn

Motion was made and passed to adjourn @ 2:18pm.

Respectfully submitted, Genevieve Favre, Secretary
