John Gardner Chapter: February 2009 Meeting Minutes
Minutes for the February, 2009 membership meeting of the
John Gardner Chapter of the TSCA
Meeting called to order at 1:35 by President Russ Smith at
Rossi Mill, Mystic Seaport
In attendance: Peter Vermilya, Will & Lori Iturrino,
Bill Armitage, Chuck Nado, Carol & Chris Mauro, Kevin
Tierney, Andy Strode, Bob Reed, Bruce Cresser, John Hacunda,
Phil Behney, John Symons.
Secretary’s Report:
Membership voted to accept report as distributed via e-mail.
Treasurer’s Report:
Membership voted to accept the report as read and distributed
by Bill Armitage . Bill commented that he has made up forms
for reimbursement for expenses that have been approved.
Old Business:
Russ attended coaches meeting last weekend in Hull Mass.where
different ideas for events were discussed.
Russ met with Tom Duguay to continue the discussion on a
summer event at Avery Point for the second weekend in June.
Russ talked about having a one day race by utilizing the list
of race participants from “Hull Lifesaving Museum.”
Our Annual Tag Sale would still take place in the morning.
Russ also read our mission statement from our bylaws and
talked about the donation from John Blaiklock in the context
of our mission.
New Business:
Russ has asked for volunteers to head up five committees
as follows:
- Education Series ( To share and teach skills
)
- Membership Committee ( To keep current
membership list )
- Building & Supplies ( To maintain &
Track supplies )
- Boat Managers ( To maintain Log and schedule
Maintenance of boats )
- Events Committee ( To track and inform
membership of upcoming & relevant events ) Plan?

Thurs. Feb 19 Mystic Seaport lecture series on the Submarine

Sat Mar 9 Race hosted by Sound School on New Haven harbour.
Recognition:
Thanks was extended to Peter Vermilya for opening the Small
Craft collection to our Chapter whereupon we adjourned to
the Mill for the tour. John Hacunda will be posting more on
this on the Web Site.
Good of the Order: Please pay your $15 membership dues for
2009 if you haven’t done so. Thanks.
