John Gardner Chapter: December 2009 Meeting Minutes
The John Gardner Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association.
Minutes for the December 6, 2009 membership meeting of the
John Gardner Chapter of the TSCA.
President Russell Smith called the meeting to order at 1:37
PM at the Avery Point Boathouse. In attendance were members
John Symons, Rob Pittaway, Bill Armitage, Sandy D., Phil Behney,
Donna Masel, Larry Magee, Wil Iturrino, Russell Smith, George
Spragg.
Secretary’s Report:
The secretary’s report was presented by President Smith
and approved as distributed.
Treasurer’s Report:
Treasurer Armitage distributed the report for December. The
balance as of Nov. 1, 2009 was $2250.85. Income from members’
was $115. Expenses were $87.17 for decking material. The new
balance for December is $2,278.68.
Old Business:
President Smith reported that he wrote a letter to Jeff Marshall
owner of Mystic Shipyard East (and West) thanking him for
his generosity in allowing the JGTSCA to store rowing equipment
in the Williams Cove boathouse and, because it is badly in
need of repair, offering our skills to repair it. The members
approved.
Russ reported that his group of young oarsmen from the Ledyard
Parks and Recreation rowing program he teaches placed fourth
out of six participating in the Ice Breaker N.E. Region Youth
Championships race at Hull, MA. Extra crewmembers brought
along were able to row with the boat from Old Saybrook.
It was announced that the JGTSCA has a new insurance policy
to cover the Ledyard youth program run by Russell.
Boathouse projects:
John Hacunda’s dory and George Spragg’s canoe
are nearing completion.
New Business:
Elections for 2010 officers was held and the results are:
John Symons, Vice-President
Phil Behney , Secretary
Vice President, John Hacunda will move up to president, Bill
Armitage will serve as treasurer and Russell Smith will become
President Emeritus.
Upcoming Events: March 6, 2010, 12 P.M. Snow Row at Lifesaving
Museum, Hull, MA.
A reminder that 2010 membership dues of $15 are due.
