John Gardner Chapter: April 2009 Meeting Minutes
The John Gardner Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association.
Minutes for the April 5, 2009 membership meeting of the John
Gardner Chapter of the TSCA.
Past President Phil Behney called the meeting to order at
2:07.P.M. at the Avery Point Boathouse. In attendance were
John Symons, Bob Reed, Paul Robertson, Sid Whelan, Andy Stode,
Bill Armitage, and George Spragg.
Secretary’s Reportt
The secretary’s report was approved as distributed.
Treasurer’s Report:
The report was approved as reported by Treas. Bill Armitage
with a balance as of $2,416.16 as of 4/ 1/09.
Bill reported 22 members paid since 1-1-09
Old Business:
The Essex River race is scheduled for May 17Th.
Pine Island clean up is scheduled for May 3rd. Members to
report at 10 A.M. The May meeting will be held after the clean
up followed by a barbecue.
George Spragg presented the two new building signs of vinyl
that will be transferred to a solid backer and should last
for about seven years.
The Small Craft Workshop week end has been announced and
will be held June 6-7.
New Business:
The Nautical Tag Sale will be held June 13Th. Volunteers
are needed as well as items for sale. W&B is closing its
store and has offered the items left over.
Boathouse Projects:
John Hacunda, with help from members, is making good progress
planking his 14’ skiff.
John Maxson turned ownership of the mold he owned with George
Spragg. George will build a dolly with shelves to ease moving
the mold around the boat shop.

Essex River Race, Essex, MA Row – 5.5 miles open water

Mess about – date to be determined – staff to
be formed to handle food, destination, participates, etc.
Good of the Order:
Bill Armitage is back in action, doing rehab at L&M,
but rowing won't be part of it for awhile.
