Members' Boats: David Luckhardt

Chamberlain Dory-Skiff

All craft built for rowing and sailing embody compromises that make them generally inferior
for either activity. The Chamberlain Dory-Skiff is the exception. David's boat is 13' 6" long with
an additional 2' of bowsprit, 4' 3" wide, and weighs aproximately 300 lbs. Built by Simon Watt's
last class at the SF Maritime Museum in 1994 as a pulling boat with three removable thwarts,
David restored it in 2005 and rigged it for sail -- see more details on his dory restoration page.
